Artist Statement
"Reflecting on my life I realize needlework has played a large part in my personal development.”
As a child I dreamed of a bottomless trunk of fabric. Today I still dream of fabric with row after row of embroidery that feeds my soul. Reflecting on my life I realize needlework has played a large part in my artistic development. The ever changing kaleidoscope of bits and pieces of colored fabrics have drawn me into a never ending exploration of pattern and color. I am constantly striving to interpret the dimensionality of nature within the flat framework of geometric design and fabric. The challenge of pushing the boundaries and limitations of my quiltmaking medium, without destroying the innate integrity of the craft, has inspired me to express my thoughts in unique designs and has given me a sense of personal satisfaction.

I have exhibited, lectured and taught needlework nationally and internationally for thirty years. Currently I am designing embellished clothing and accessories. This phase of my career complements my many years of teaching needlearts and offers students the opportunity
to combine several embroidery techniques.

I am a charter member of Fiber Forum, an EGA group formed to
advance the perception of needlework as an art form, an EGA certified
teacher, certified graduate teacher, and past president of EGA. To share my knowledge I have contributed to many magazines, self-published several booklets and numerous patterns.
